The mission of Fields Lodge #832 F&AM
is to raise the moral, social, intellectual,
and spiritual conscience of society by teaching
the ancient and enduring philosophical tenets
of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, which
are expressed outwardly through service to God,
family, country, and self under the Fatherhood
of God within the Brotherhood of Man.
Be sure to mark your calendars for August 8,
2009 at Kingdom Come State Park, here in Cumberland.
That's the date for the annual Raven Rock Conferment.
Whitesburg Lodge 754 will perform the Legend
of the Temple, with Bro. Tracy Turner, of Appalachia
Lodge 229 doing the skull letcure. Good food
and prizes will be handed out at the shelter
house at the park beginning around 4 PM. If

I would
first like to take the time
to thank each one of you all
for bestowing upon me the honor
of serving this lodge as Worshipful
Master for 2009. You gentlemen
have paved the way for this
fraternity to prosper, and I
can only hope to place my feet
alongside those very large footprints
I now see before me. Thinking
about the men who have served
this lodge before me is a reminder
as to why I originally joined
this fraternity; the fraternal
bonds. As men, we are influenced
and shaped by the men in our
lives. These men, whether intentionally
or not, play a large part in
determining the men we eventually
become. As children we look
up to our fathers for guidance.
Symbolically, they draw us up
as a rough stone from the quarry
and begin the process of preparing
that stone for the builders
use. They break off the rough
corners of indiscretion and
youthful ignorance and eventually
send us out into the world as
men. As young men we are also
influenced by an athletic coach
or club advisor. These men too
play a role in our development.
Sadly, for many of us, that
is the extent of our development
as men. However, for those of
us fortunate enough to find
masonry, we discover that good
men can become better men; and
simply by association. Masonry
affords each and every one of
us an opportunity to grow as
men.
